Under the guidance of Ed Klein at the City Lights Art Gallery in Henderson, Nevada, Judi embarked on what she describes as her “Exploration of Life” through art. This collection of watercolor paintings marked the beginning of her artistic journey and earned her several gallery awards, showcasing her natural affinity for capturing the essence of her subjects.
Judi’s artistic exploration didn’t stop at watercolors. Venturing into acrylics, she furthered her studies with Jeff Tift, a renowned wildlife artist in North America. Drawing inspiration from her eight-year residence in South Africa, where she photographed the majestic wildlife of the Kruger National Park, Judi began painting a series of these animals in acrylic. This new phase of her work brings African wildlife’s vibrant and dynamic spirit to life, reflecting her deep connection to the natural world.
Her paintings have garnered significant recognition, earning numerous first-place blue ribbons and three best-of-show awards at the City Lights Gallery shows in Henderson, Nevada. A Las Vegas Artist Guild member, Judi’s work has been featured in Artisan magazine and Artsy Shark online magazine, further establishing her as a respected figure in the art community.
Beyond creating, Judi shares her passion and knowledge by teaching watercolor and acrylic art classes. Since 2015, she has taught at the City Lights Gallery and Michael’s stores, and she offers courses in abstract and wildlife painting at the University of Nevada at Las Vegas Continuing Education. As a Grumbacher Certified Art Instructor, Judi imparts technical skills and inspires her students to explore their creativity and express their unique perspectives.
In addition to her remarkable accomplishments as an artist and educator, Judi Moreo has extended her expertise into Art Therapy, where she serves as a practitioner. Drawing on her own experiences with art as a means of navigating through the challenges of her cancer diagnosis, Judi applies her knowledge and compassion to help others find solace, strength, and self-discovery through the creative process. Her work in Art Therapy is a natural extension of her life’s mission to inspire and empower, offering a path to wellness that harnesses the transformative power of art.
